Year 5 News

Welcome back to our class blog!

It’s been a very busy and rewarding week in Year 5.

Earlier in the week, pupils took part in their swimming lessons which are now in full flow. They are making lots of progress each and every time we go, which is super to see. On the topic of sport, we also had the opportunity on Thursday to visit Queen’s Park High School for an extra PE lesson, which the children thoroughly enjoyed, as you can see!

As well as the lovely, descriptive writing the children have been working on this week in English, we have also looked in more detail at our topic of The War Years and, in particular, the chronology of the main events of WW1, including its build-up and cause.

In music, the children have been learning more about this wartime era, particularly the life and work of Glenn Miller and his role in WW2. A war-themed trip is in the pipeline – more details to follow soon.

For homework this week, as well as reading practice, the children have been given spellings, maths rounding work and some punctuation practice.

Have a lovely, longer weekend!
