We passionately believe in developing pupils who ‘Learn for Life’ and equipping them with the skills needed for an increasingly complex and globalised world. Grosvenor Park C of E Academy provides wrap around care and extended school days, in order to provide the richest curriculum possible, which focuses not only on academics but the development of the whole child, through our unique ‘beyond curriculum’ focus.

Our curriculum fully reflects the central importance of literacy and numeracy and we constantly strive for new ways to help children discover a passion for learning in these areas. Every pupil to moves from ’learning to read’ to ‘reading to learn’ at a level appropriate for their age and stage, enabling them to access the wider curriculum with greater confidence and independence. Learning to read is the most important thing your child will learn at school. Once a love of reading is fostered new worlds and opportunities are available. Our unique building, in the heart of Chester, has allowed us to develop high quality, specialist learning environments which contribute to the teaching of music and the performing arts as well as science and technology. Close the the River Dee and a short walk from the Roman centre of the city, our location allows us to access a wealth of learning opportunities on our doorstep. Teaching and learning is practical and enquiry-based.

We are a fully inclusive school welcoming all pupils, irrespective of background and ability.

Our curriculum is designed to:

  • Foster self-belief, aspiration and achievement through teamwork and individual expression, based on high standards of attainment, behaviour, presentation and mutual respect.
  • Support not only pupils’ academic progress but also their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
  • Deliver the school’s ethos, ‘A Voice for Every Child’, through the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum so we are developing ‘the whole child’.
  • Provide opportunities for our children to show case their talents by providing opportunities to sing, perform, create and participate as a team or individually.

Throughout their learning journey, all children will learn a language different to that of their home language. International links and an appreciation of different cultures are developed throughout the curriculum.

Teachers adapt and extend the curriculum to meet the needs of all children so that the gifted and talented are appropriately challenged and extended and children with special needs or English as an additional language have full access and support.

In addition to the National Curriculum, we have identified a range of skills and learning experiences that our children need, and which will help them to develop as citizens of Britain both now and in the future.  Our PSHE curriculum focuses on developing the children’s values of Truth, Love, Peace, Right Conduct and Non-Violence, all of which underpin the British values which are also taught.
