Year 3 travel back in time with the Vikings!
We have had a very exciting week in year three. On Wednesday we welcomed Liz from the Grosvenor Museum, she bought with her some fantastic Viking artifacts. Silver ingots, a gold ring, coins, a clay pot and a beautiful broach, all dug up in and around Chester. It is amazing to think that these items were actually made and used 1100 years ago in Chester. We also learnt that when Chester was initially invaded by the Vikings, they were scared away by a swarm of angry bees!
In English this week, we have started to look at instruction texts and their features. Homework this week will focus on imperative verbs which tell the reader clearly what should be done. For example… eat you vegetables, tidy your room, fold your clothes, wipe your feet.
In Maths we have been working hard to master the expanded column strategy to add numbers that are too big for us to do in our heads. Homework this week is a little practice on what we have done in class.
