Whoop Whoop, year three are the champions!
Huge congratulations to all of the children in year three who worked so hard answering thousands of mental maths questions on sumdog this week! Your prize, for the most correct answers from 53 classes throughout Cheshire, is a free six month subscription to the super cool sumdog 3D maths games. The new selection of games will be activated over the next few days so you can continue playing!
On a slightly less interesting note… In English this week, we have been looking at the tips and tricks authors use to make there work interesting and exciting. We plant to ‘borrow’ some of these for our own Iron Man writing, which we will start planning next week.
In maths, we have started to look at mental strategies for solving addition and subtraction calculations. So far we have practiced counting on and back in 1’s, 10’s and 100’s and using known facts. This allowed us to answer some quite tricky questions in the millions!
This afternoon we have been learning about PANTS! This is the theme of the NSPCC ‘Speak out. Stay safe’ campaign. We have designed our own pants and talked about the trusted adults who we can talk to if we need to.
For the Harvest Service this year, we will be singing ‘We plough the fields and scatter’. I have sent the words home this weekend to start learning.
