What a difference one lesson can make!

This week in year 5 we started the week identifying the features of a formal letter, by the end of the week we have been discussing how we can make a change in the world. The children have researched about the impact of plastic on the world and our environment. Samuel shared his interesting fact with the class ‘One rubbish truck of plastic enters the ocean every minute’ this had us all hooked. This has now changed our topic this term to ‘How can we make a difference to the World and Pollution? It’s worse than we think!’

During our maths lesson we have completed tower additions, we added several 2-digit and 3-digit numbers. We have interpreted data, finding the information to complete addition and subtraction problems with 3-digit numbers. We ended the week practising all calculations using 2,3 and 4 digit numbers.

We were very fortunate to have a visitor in school this week, Helen from ‘Friends of the Earth’ was talking to the children about how to become a plastic free school.

Collective worship

We have introduced a theme of friendship, this will help the children to explore community and relationships. Together we can achieve more.
