We Go Together!
Year 2 have had a very busy week. The children really enjoyed their swimming lesson and worked hard to perfect their front crawl and back stroke.
Emily A “I like swimming because it is so important. If you fell into a lake you could save yourself ”.
The children have been writing captions to go with images and have made a start at drafting an explanation text. Year 2 have also completed 2 SPaG mock tests, a reading comprehension based on Roald Dahl and handwriting activities. Mrs Bargery has been delivering some enthusiastic storytelling sessions this week-the children are captivated by her reading of Charlie and the Chocolate factory.
In Maths we have been practising subtracting a 2-digit number from a 2-digit number by counting on using a number line. The children have worked through an addition and fractions tests. We all had very different ways of answering some of the questions and it was interesting to share our ideas with each other.
In Music we have been practising a song for our summer show ‘We Go Together’…more information to follow soon! The children sing with such confidence now. They have been thinking of some dance moves to go with the music.
Lexie “I like the song because the music is lively and makes me feel happy. Music is one of my favourite lessons”.
In our topic session we worked in small teams to match pictures to sentences then placing them in chronological order. The first team to win won a Golden ticket.
In PE Year 2 had a wonderful time at St.Martin’s Academy improving their throwing and catching skills. Mr Sparks was extremely impressed with the children’s behaviour and attitude towards learning during the lesson.
