This half term, Year 4 have been learning all about the Vikings, their culture, history and impact on the United Kingdom. Year 4 have been learning about Viking warriors, food, homes, fighting style and contributions to the world. One of the highlights was being able to meet a real viking via Zoom – Bjorn Bloodaxe!
The class have been creating a scene description based on a boat journey, inspired by the book by Ethan Murrow ‘The Whale’. They have also written a newspaper report about a mythical creature that emerged on the beach in Russia. In the final week of term, the class have been learning about Benjamin Zephaniah and his brilliant poetry. The class have made personification poetry about their shoes and a pencil!
Mr. Sparks has been so impressed by the class’ hard work in their maths lessons, with everyone trying really hard to become more confident with their place value. Mr. Sparks has tried to give the class some tricky work, but they have handled it, no problem!
This first half term has been wonderful, with the children settling back into school so well. Next half term will be lots of fun as Mr. Sparks has lots of exciting things planned!
