Together Everyone Achieves More

Thank you so much for your lovely messages this week. I really do miss you all.

The children in Year 1 have been working exceptionally hard on their home learning tasks. I am delighted with the work that is being produced.

I have seen some fantastic phonics and spelling work. Geraldine the Giraffe has been very impressed! I  have enjoyed reading your character descriptions and  fact files of Woodland animals. I am very pleased with your wanted posters and art work. In Maths, Year 1 have been working on fractions and doubling. You are all now able to recognise a half of a shape and a number.

The highlight of the week for me has been lstening to your singing videos! Wow! We certainly do have a lot of talent in Year 1. I hope you enjoyed the singing video I sent to you. The song I sang is from the musical les Miserables …I sang it when I was 11 for a singing exam! It was lovely to sing it again for you.

I have received some messages about reading books. I am pleased to see lots of you reading daily and using the guided reading question sheet.  This website is superb:

Please continue to keep me updated with your child’s progress. It is clear that you are all working extremely hard at home but please remember to break up your learning with breaks, exercise, singing and play.

Have a peaceful weekend and I look forward to speaking to you all next week.

Stay Safe,

The Year 1 Team
