This week in year 5…
This week’s blog is brought to you by Ruby, Leah and Ava.
It has all been a bit different this term, but different in a good way. We are making the most of online learning and not having Mrs Gill tell us off for swinging on the back of our chairs!
This week we have been writing paragraphs about moments in the story of the Hound of the Baskervilles. We have used colons and semi-colons to create different sentences structures, used adverbs to describe the setting and plot and today have started to plan our own cliff-hanger story.
In maths we have been learning how to times two-digits, by two-digits. This is tricky because you need to set your work clearly, do all of the combinations and keep an eye on presentation and place value.
By researching our topic, the Anglo-Saxons, we have discovered a little bit about what life was like for them all those centuries ago. Did you know a whole family used to share one room, people had to find and collect their own water and wood for the fire and they didn’t have mobile phones or hair dryers – what a nightmare!
One of the highlights of our week was on zoom when we realised that George’s cat was sitting on Dylan’s head. Nice hat!
