There’s lots to read in our Headteacher’s newsletter!

Friday 1st March 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

It’s been a busy first week back with some glorious sunshine to boost everyone’s mood. Let’s hope it comes back for the weekend.

We’ve had lots of exciting news this week. Earlier this year, the Year 4 children wrote to David Attenborough asking questions about Indonesian birds, and he responded! (Please see our twitter feed for more details of his letter and signed photo).

Additionally, Charlie in Year 6  was involved in a recording a session for the Cbeebies radio show,  Bitz and Bobs, on Cheshire’s ice cream farm in Tattenhall. What a fantastic experience! Follow the link to access the podcast. https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/radio/bitz-and-bob-ice-cream

‘500 Words’ is the UK’s most successful short story-writing competition for children between the ages of 5 and 13. Everything you need to know about this year’s competition is on the link below. Well done to those children who have already completed the challenge. There are lots of exciting prizes, from NWAT, as well as the competition itself. If you submit a story, please also pass on a hard copy to your teacher, to be judged by North West Academies.

Yesterday you would have received (via Eezeetrip) information regarding the Momo challenge please take a moment to read the flyer that was sent to ensure your child remains safe online.

The school has been notified of cases of headlice. Headlice are common in primary age children. They can be particularly difficult to spot even on close inspection. Please check your child’s hair at the weekend and treat using a lotion or using a specially designed comb.

This week we held an information meeting in Year 1, Year 2 and Year 6, for parents to learn about phonic testing and KS1 and KS2 SATS. Thank you to those parents who attended. Should you have missed this, please speak to your child’s class teacher.

Most families are now accessing Eezeetrip and should be receiving regular communications as well as being able to pay for clubs and trips. Should you be experiencing technical issues, please contact Sarah Leese, our Admin Officer for the trust, who will be more than happy to help.

World Book Day is fast approaching. Children can wear a costume linked to a character in a book or anything else that they would like. The PTFA are running an Art Competition to draw your favourite book character with the chance of winning a book! Further information can be located in your child’s book bag.

Please note that Parents Evening is on 13th and 14th March. Booking details will follow.

This week, staff have started to write class blogs, instead of newsletters on the school website. There may still be a mixture of both whilst we transition, so please bear with us.

Have a lovely weekend.
