The names Bond, number Bond.

This week in Year 1…

We have been learning about our numbers bonds to 10, 20 and beyond. Mr. Sparks has been so impressed that the Year 1 have been able to notice patterns in all of their number bonds and are becoming much more confident every day.

We have been learning how to say different types of food in French. J’adore le pommes frites!

We have been learning about what animals live under the sea and about how important it is to keep the sea clean and plastic free. Year 1 have made a promise to try reduce the amount of plastic they use by recycling, reusing and reducing.

Year 1 have worked very hard in phonics this week. Mr. Sparks is so proud of how well they are doing and how they are progressing.

Year 1 were lucky enough to go to the Grosvenor Park dig this week. They met some of the archaeologist working there and go to ask lots of questions. They were shown a selection of items that had been found, some of them were 2000 years old! They even had the chance to have a little dig in some of the areas around the professional dig and Henry found some pottery that the professionals had missed! Henry has a bright future as an archaeologist.

Year 1 got to go on a river walk on Friday with Mr. Randalls. They had a little checklist of things to look out for, like Herons, Cormorants, Rhinos and the Queen. (go the Handbridge meadows and look over to the Chester side to see if you can spot them!)

Next term…

Our topic is all about ‘Tall Towers & Terrible Trolls’.
