The Love Street Ladies

This week in Year 4 we had an absolutely amazing experience, when we were visited by two very special guests. May and Jenny came to Grosvenor Park Academy over 50 years ago when we were known as Love Street School and came to our classroom to answer the many questions we had!

They spent almost an hour with us on a wonderful trip down memory lane and we were enthralled throughout by their many answers and stories. How lucky we were to have the opportunity to talk with both of them. May and Jenny once again, thank you so very much.

Our modern school magazine is still with the editors, but has made much progress this week. Once the interviews have been added and front cover designed, we will be one step closer. Watch this space! Once again, our English lessons this week have been brought to life by our fascinating school history.

In maths this week, we have been looking at fractions and the children have started to believe in themselves much more when it comes to this occasionally tricky topic – or so pupils often think. But as our rap goes, ‘People think fractions are hard and say, “For goodness sake!” – but fractions are really easy and just a piece of cake.’ We will continue with our fraction learning next week.

Please note that in the homework this week, there is a kit list for the forthcoming Year 4 residential, in order to help you prepare for this exciting event that is not too far away now. More details to follow soon.

See you next week,

Mr Lee

PS – House Points for anyone who can write down and pass to me the favourite school food of our classroom guest (and Ava’s nan!) May, when she was a pupil at Love Street School.
