Team Year 1
What can I say? I am honestly truly overwhelmed with the children’s efforts and attitude towards learning over the past two weeks. I have loved receiving your emails and photographs- Please continue to keep me updated with your child’s progress. It is clear that you are all working extremely hard at home but please remember to break up your learning with breaks, exercise, singing and play.
In Literacy, Year 1 have been working incredibly hard revising and learning news sounds. Geraldine the giraffe seems very popular! The children have also been practising letter formation, reading and writing Common exception words then using these words in simple sentences. I have been very happy with the children’s efforts to learn their weekly spellings-please continue to send your test score to me via email at the end of the week. I have seen some lovely pieces of creative writing this week including letters, poems, prayers, descriptions and stories. One of my favourite pieces of work were the invitations for Brave the fairy!
Year 1 have enjoyed completing some of the Science activities this week. I have seen a phone being made out cups and string. Fantastic!
In Maths, Year 1 have been working hard to improve their measuring skills. I have seen some excellent work on capacity and weight. It was lovely to see some practical Maths taking place at home too. Has anyone tried to complete a First4 Maths activity yet? I loved the videos of the children dancing to the number 10 song! Have you all mastered your number bonds to 10?
I have been impressed with Year 1’s Art and DT work this week. I have seen beautiful rainbows, pictures of Fairy crowns, delicious Fairy cakes and Easter egg designs. I was totally blown away by some of the home-made Fairy crowns. Brave the Fairy is so pleased with the crowns and cakes that Year 1 have been making and she told me that your instructions on how to make Fairy cakes were easy to follow. Well done!
Today, I have sent out some optional activities (Via email) for Year 1 to complete over the Easter break. During the break please keep reading and make time to have fun and relax.
Have a peaceful Easter time and stay safe.
Thank you all for your continued support, it is very much appreciated. I look forward to speaking to you all soon.
Jesus, I know you are going to die but you are going to come back to life.
Thank you for looking after everybody in the world.
Thank you for Easter treats on Easter Sunday.
