Reception class have a rib tickling time reading ‘Funnybones’

Maths

This week, the children have learnt to compare and order numbers to 10 and 20. We have played games that check the children can match a numeral to 20 with the same number of objects in a set. The children have estimated numbers of objects and images and have begun to understand that teen numbers are ten plus some more. On Wednesday we all helped each other to order numbers to 20 before rolling out a long piece of paper to write practice writing our numbers.
Next week in Maths, the children will be looking at money. It would be really helpful if you could discuss some of the coins that you have in your purse/wallet with your child.

 

Writing

This week in Phonics, we have split into two groups to consolidate our sounds. We have grouped the children to support their knowledge and understanding of the sounds. Throughout the week the children have played lots of fun games such as CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) bingo and first to find the…..

After reading the story ‘Funnybones’ we wrote speech bubbles thinking about what the Big Skeleton would say.
