Once upon a time…
This week the children in Reception have completed their learning on Superheroes and Supertato. The children using Talk for Writing to perform the story and to celebrate world book day the children wrote about their favourite book and why. Writing simple sentences using their phonic knowledge and high frequency words, please continue to practise these words at home to help with their reading and writing. In phonics the children have learned the digraphs ay ‘may I play’, ee ‘what can I see’ the trigraph igh ‘ fly high’ and ow ‘blow the snow’. Please can you encourage your child to practise these sounds and rhymes and encourage them to find them when reading.
The children have also completed their learning on time, learning o’clock on an analogue clock and applying their knowledge of times through everyday language such as lunch time is at 12 o’clock. They enjoyed playing what’s the time Mr Wolf using the clock to consolidate their learning.
Protecting the planet has continued to be of interest to the children and we have discussed how we can do more at home to help such as taking showers more often, not leaving the tap on and turning off lights when we are not using them. As a class we have created a poster to share with school council and hope that we will be able to encourage them to provide recycling bins in every classroom.
In PE the children have been creating gymnastic sequences, learning to link several shapes together and how to travel and jump on a bench.
A wonderful week of learning Reception, well done.
