Help! Toys Taken…

This week the evil Emperor Zurg from Toy Story sent the children a mission, he had stolen some of their toys from the toy box and they had to work out how many. The children revisited subtraction, learning vocabulary including take away, less than and difference and recording this as a calculation. The children also learned the value of money by role-playing a toy shop, learning the value of coins up to 20p and learning to pay and give change.

In literacy the children learned the features of instructions and particularly enjoyed using their ‘BOSSY’ words (verbs). They created simple instructions of how to make a moving toy before creating split-pin dolls.

The children also studied the artist Andy Warhol and learned about Pop Art, they were inspired by his style to recreate toy art in this style.

In PE they have been developing their football talents and in music explored the theme superheroes. In RE the children have revisited their parable The Good Samaritan and discussed what we can do to behave like the Samaritan did.
