Happy Christmas from Year 1!
What a fabulous end to an amazing term! We are all so proud of the children’s performance of Shine Star, Shine this week-the children sang with confidence and enthusiasm. Well done Year 1!
This week has been a very busy one! We have enjoyed a fun PE and swimming session, an Elf run around Grosvenor Park, a train ride, Forest School and on Tuesday we had the pleasure of watching the Key Stage 2 carol concert. We have made Christmas cards, calendars and have loved completing Christmas Maths and English tasks.
In RE we watched, listened and acted out The Story of Christmas. The children completed a storyboard showing the main parts of the story and wrote a Christmas prayer.
Next term our topic is ‘Castles’ and our Literacy work will link to the text Rapunzel. In Maths we will start the year focusing on Place Value to 20 and in RE our concept is ‘Kingdom of God’. In Science we will be looking at plants. If you have any artefacts/books etc. linked to any of these topics we would welcome them into class for the children to enjoy.
No homework has been set but each pupil has been given two books to read over the Christmas holidays.
Reminders for next half-term:
Monday mornings :PE
Tuesday mornings: Swimming
Thursday morning: Storyhouse drama session (At school)
Thursday 16th January : Trip to Beeston castle
On behalf of the Year 1 team we would like to thank you all for your continued support and wish you a very merry Christmas. We look forwards to seeing you in 2020!
