Gold Glory and God…

A busy week for year 4 we have been completely immersed in acquiring vocabulary. We have discussed the meanings of the following words;

Rickety, torrents, ominous, tormented, unkempt, elusive, billowed and quest.

How wonderful it was to see the children using such vocabulary in their work. We have written a paragraph about a scene within our feature book.

During maths we have focused on place value, we have added 10, 100, and 1000 more to four digit numbers. On Friday we explored negative numbers. Some children used a number line to solve problems such as counting backwards through zero.

We have now started our History/geography focus ‘The age of discovery’ the children have located the birth place of famous explorers. We have discussed why the explorers travelled. We have narrowed this down to the three G’s (Gold, Glory and God.) Drama this week has now started to focus on explorers, look out for pictures on twitter and our website.

We all agreed that the school tomatoes were delicious and the children are now interested in planting more in a small greenhouse, if any parents have any ideas please let me know.
