Fantastic Netball skills in action…
This week in Year 6…
At the beginning of this week we enjoyed having our PE lesson outside in the sunshine. As you can see from these action shots their passing and catching skills are really developing. The children showed super team work and sportsmanship. On Wednesday group of children from Y5/6 went to the King’s School to take part in a hockey training day led by two GB Olympians – a fantastic day was had by all.
During our Maths lessons this week we have focused on revising our understanding of translation, rotation and reflection – We have also looked at questions involving symmetry and coordinates. In addition to this we have also completed a set of three past papers – once these have been assessed we will use the results to highlight gaps in our knowledge – We will then and use this information to guide our revision after the Easter holidays.
During our English sessions this week: We have continued our Alma writing – We have completed the 2015 SATs reading paper – It is clear to see from the results that we really are getting to grips with the complexities of the reading tasks as we have all made progress. Well done everyone. Please continue to read regularly with your children at home. When you read with your child over the Easter break please concentrate on reading for understanding
Our grammar focus this week has been on sentence types. We have also completed a timed SATs SPAG and several spelling tests. Ask your children to explain to you what a relative clause is.
The children have been given 3 homework booklets to complete over the Easter holiday. Maths, Reading and SPAG. Please work through each of these booklets with them. 10 minutes a day for 10 days (30 minutes per day in total) I have not sent the mark scheme for the maths booklets so please could you check their understanding each day. Thank you in advance for your support with this homework
Have a really lovely Easter break – May the sun shine every day
