Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

In 79 AD one of the most infamous volcanic events in European history took place when Mount Vesuvius violently erupted, destroying the Roman settlement of Pompeii. Interestingly, it was witnessed by a Roman writer called Pliny the Younger…as well as 28 Year 4 pupils at Grosvenor Park Academy who wrote their own accounts for the school newspaper!

Year 4s, your effort and enthusiasm when writing as journalists this week was fantastic; your reports were all very well-produced and made it straight to the front page. Our very own Mr McMahon (a former journalist) even told me how extremely impressed he was with our Year 4 newsroom, which is a huge compliment – well done. Welcome all to our Summer Term topic: The Romans.

It’s been great to see the children come back from the Easter weekend with such energy and excitement for learning. There is lots coming up this term so keep a lookout for news and events via the school website and eeZeeTrip. The most immediate reminder is that swimming will continue from Monday, so please remember kits and water.

Have a super weekend,

Mr Lee
