Drama for year 4…
This week we have completed baseline assessments, reading spelling, maths, grammar and Science.
The classroom has been a hub of activity as the classroom were introduced to our literacy unit. As the children entered the classroom they found artefacts, we immersed ourselves into what we thought these might mean. Asking such questions as; is there anything that puzzles you? Where did they come from? What do you predict the story will be about? This created great excitement. During the next lesson we described the objects using adjectives. The children recorded them and then verbally presented then to the class.
Storyhouse Drama session was… dramatic, this included creating a sculpture with their own bodies. Playing confidence games, which they really enjoyed. Then after discussing the roles of the staff within Storyhouse the children then acted them out.
During PE the children were learning ball control, they were using agility activities to create distance between throws.
We enjoyed our first visit to St Johns Church since returning to school, during the service we talked about generosity and how it’s not just about gifts. During RE we have listened to the story The Healing of the Centurion’s Servant Luke 7:1-10. We then designed an emotion graph for the centurion at each point of the story. This will lead to a writing task with the question, ‘do you think happened next?’
The children have been given homework to be return before Wednesday, after choosing a task from the list of English and Maths.
Have a lovely weekend.
