Down in the jungle…
This week we have started our Creatures topic by focusing on Jungle animals. We were very impressed by how much the children already knew about lots of different animals that live in jungle so we have built upon this over the week. Firstly, we started by writing a list of animals that could be found in the jungle, learning about some new animals we’d never even heard of too! It’s really important to get a clear view of these animals so we made some fantastic binoculars using some camouflage paper to help us stay hidden.
This week in Maths, the children have been ordering and comparing numbers to 20 and above. They had great fun comparing numbers and hanging them on our washing line. On Wednesday before Maths all the numbers had been swapped around so the children had put them in the correct order, as you can see in the main picture. It is great to see the children working together!
On Friday, the children took part in their first Forest School session which they all loved! Unfortunately the children had to complete the session inside as it was pouring with rain so we’re keeping our fingers crossed for sunshine next week.
For homework, this week the children have been given a number formation sheet and a game of snakes and ladders. Please help your child to play snakes and ladders by counting on the correct number of jumps. If you don’t have a dice you can search ‘dice roller’ in Google and an interactive one will appear on screen.
We hope you have a brilliant weekend,
The Reception Class Team
