Contrast poems and stick men!

Contrast poems and stick men!

Our Forest Puppets (marionettes) are well on the way to being finished – we are working really well as teams helping to keep each other safe whilst using tools. We have also learnt how to make rope swings. We can’t wait to return next week for more forest school fun.

During our Maths lessons this week our focus has been on Division. We have calculated using both the short and long division methods. Challenge your children to solve questions like these 346 divided by

During our English sessions this week we written some contrast poems based on two character a small girl and a German soldier from our book ‘Rose Blanche’. The children have really brought these characters to life – using ambitious vocabulary choices and sentence structures. Here are some extracts from our poems:

Soldier and Girl.

Sharp icy wind tearing at her face, ripping through her aching heart – urging her to turn back. (Samuel)

Treacherous menacing thoughts cloud his morality.

Dreams and hopes crushed by the harsh reality of war.

Please continue to read regularly with your children at home. Encourage them to read a range of genres – including fiction and non-fiction texts. When you read with your child this coming week please concentrate on asking the children to predict what might happen next in the book based on evidence they can find within the text they have already read.

Thank you for your support with last week’s homework I know there was a lot – I have enjoyed reading the responses but the quality of the work returned was quite mixed – some of the content, neatness and presentation of this work could have been better. Please can I ask you to talk to your child about their homework tasks each week and check their responses before it is returned – including signing the homework sheet. New homework has been sent out today. This includes a writing task a maths task and spelling. This homework is due in on Wednesday 2nd October.

If you need to contact for me for any reason please contact the office who will pass on your messages. I hope you all have a really enjoyable weekend
