I hope you all enjoyed your extended weekend – sorry we couldn’t have ordered better weather for you. Despite losing a day this week we have still managed to pack in lots of super work and activities. Forest School – which is turning into the highlight of the week – swimming and most exciting of all we played CONKERS… I have introduced the children to a game I used to play as a girl (many, many years ago I know!) All the children have been given a new shinny conker – a shoelace and instructions on how to play this traditional game. Our mini Knockout has begun – I will let you know who will be crowned GPA Conker Champion next week – I’m off to soak my conker in vinegar… Just in case you want to play yourself I have posted a picture of the rules here on the blog.
We have continued to work on our mastery of long division. We have played games, become mini teachers to each other and worked on our quick fire responses to times tables facts.
During our RE sessions this week we have researched the 7 ‘I am’ statements of Jesus and written our own responses to what we have found out. We have also designed a poster depicting the ‘I am’ statement
“I Am the Light of the World” (John 8:12)
Thank you for your support with last week’s homework – the quality was so much better and everyone managed to complete at least 1 of the activities set. Their first spelling test went well – so please keep up the work you are doing with this weekly task. New homework has been sent out today. This includes a RE task linked to the ‘I am’ statements – a long division task (differentiated) – I have sent a ‘how to guide to help those of you who might be a bit rusty with their long division technique. I have also set this week’s spelling from the booklet you were given last week (2a and 2b.) This homework is due in on Wednesday 9th October.
If you need to contact for me for any reason please contact the office who will pass on your messages. I hope you all have a really enjoyable weekend
Note from Mr Clark – Thank all so much for your applications for head girl and boy – house captains and Y6 buddies. Interviews will be held next week – your child will have been told if they have been called for one of these interviews.
