Reception’s highlight of the week has to be their amazing animal adventure at Greenacres Animal Park. The children explored the reptile house, enjoyed spotting a wide variety of animals such as alpaca, goats, pigs, emus and wallabys, became risk takers in the petting area, getting up close and personal with an Eagle Owl, Marshmellow the bird, Cocoa the rabbit and some goats as well as enjoying the tractor ride. What a wonderful first visit for the children, their behaviour was excellent as they proudly represented their school.
In Re the children have learned about Harvest in preparation for our Harvest service, reflecting on what they are thankful and how we can help others.
In maths the children have focused on more and less of a given number and in literacy they have relished the opportunity to become detectives spotting question marks where ever they go and used their phonic knowledge and use of tricky words to write questions which they would like to ask their special visitor next week.
In understanding the world the children have explored key landmarks in their local area and used remote control cars to navigate around them, discussing which places they had been to and why they were unique to Chester. They have also applied their understanding of the wants and needs of animals completing a digital activity on looking after pets. Please encourage your child to have a go at home if they would like to on https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/games/my-pet-and-me-game
An incredible week of learning, well done Reception.
