Year 5

An Important Day

Dear Parents,

Children in Need 2019: A day when we have a chance to think about those in less fortunate positions than ourselves and to act. It was brilliant to see so many spotty items on uniforms today – we have had a super day of learning and reflecting on this message. TBC how much we raised! Remember as a faith school it is important to consider messages that link to acts of charity, such as this quote from the Bible: Be devoted to one another in brotherly love (Romans 12:10).

This ends a lovely week at school. On the sporting front, the girls’ basketball team attended the Chester Schools’ Autumn tournament on Wednesday, scoring lots of points, and, most importantly, having a great time. Today, the girls’ football team also attended Boughton Heath Academy to play a cup match and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. As a class we also visited QPHS on Thursday to further progress our table tennis skills (see photo)!

Writing in English this week saw us complete some AMAZING letters written from the trenches in the Great War to family back home. I have already read through them and am so proud of the finished pieces of work the children have created. Our maths learning has continued to focus on addition, particularly mental arithmetic; this week’s homework aims to reinforce this topic further.

Thank you so much to all parents who I spoke to at Parents’ Evening this week and indeed those who I will meet soon. It is such an important time to discuss the children’s progress – in all areas – and strengthen the home-school bonds that help all pupils to fly and become the best they can be.

Have a great weekend,

Mr Lee
