A busy week in year 1…

This week we have continued reading about a tiger who came to school. We have been inspired by our book – There’s a tiger in the Garden to create expanded noun phrases, simile sentences and examples of alliteration.

In maths we have been revising place value and understanding the value of each digit in a two-digit number. This will prepare us to add and subtract one and two-digit numbers next week.

As we are enjoying learning about tigers so much, we have been looking at a famous painting of a tiger… Surprised! by Henri Rousseau. We loved using our sketching and drawing skills to replicate it.
