This week we have been doing some addition and subtraction work. We have also been working on our number bonds to 10 and 20. We have been using the Numicon so we know how to use it in all of our Maths lessons. Next week we will be talking about time.

This week we have been making reports about the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. We have decided what we would build a house out of and why, what the strengths and weaknesses of the pigs’ houses were and have designed a front cover for the story. We also talked about our favourite book and why we enjoy them. Next week we will be talking about Hansel and Gretel.

This week we have been learning some French greetings, namely; Bonjour, Bonsoir and Bonne Nuit. Next week we are going to be learning the days of the week.

We have been recognising the difference between flowering and non-flowering plants. We then did some matching games to see if we could sort various plants into categories. Next week we are talking about plants we can eat.

We have learned about the story of Jonah and the Whale. We discussed the moral behind the story and created our own whale.

We have been learning about the United Kingdom. We learned the names of the countries in the UK, each countries capital and tried to find them all on a map. We will be doing more on ‘Our City’ next week.

We have been using our sounds to build words. We have been trying to think of words that have certain sounds in them and using our sounds to blend.

Year One have learned all about Shrove Tuesday/Pancake Day, why we celebrate it and some of the traditions from around the country. The class got to make their own pancake batter. We hope it was delicious!

This week we have celebrated World Book Week! Year One came dressed up as a character from a book they like. They looked fantastic! The only downside to the day was grumpy Mr. Twit wasn’t very nice to the class!
