Year 2 add a splash of colour with tie-dye T-shirts!

Thank you to those who attended the SATs meeting on Wednesday. It was lovely chatting with you and I do hope you found it useful. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

In English this week we have been writing recounts, learning about homophones and researching facts about Paul McCartney. Next week we will be using our facts to help us write a biography. We have also been practising our joined up handwriting and having a closer look at SATs style reading comprehensions.

In Maths we have been learning about fractions of amounts and fractions of shapes. The children are becoming much more confident at finding a quarter, a third and a half of an amount. I have introduced a daily morning maths activity this week. The children have enjoyed the challenging questions! Please continue to practise the 2,3, 5 and 10 times tables at home.

Mrs Bargery has been working with the children to tie-dye their T-shirts. She was very impressed with their sensible behaviour and enthusiasm during this activity. We will send the T-shirts home next week. Please note the washing instructions attached to the T-shirt.

Bobby “We had so much fun making our colourful T-shirts. I loved the blue and green colours mixed together. I can’t wait to wear it!”

Don’t forget World Book Day next Thursday. I have arranged for Year 2 to go to Storyhouse in the afternoon to take part in a fancy dress parade, craft activities and a storytelling session.
