Sharing is caring in Reception

In Literacy we have continued to focus on our key text of ‘Giraffes can’t dance’. Following on from the story map we made as a class last week, the children created their own at the beginning of the week. I think they have realised how hard it is to draw a dancing giraffe doing a back flip after laughing at my attempt last week! These story maps will now support us in writing our own stories but with a twist.

In Maths, we have been focusing on sharing. “Sharing is caring” Enya reminded us as we discussed sharing a pizza equally! The children have taken part in a range of activities that encouraged them to share equally between 2, 3 and 4. It would be great if you could reinforce this learning at home over the weekend. On Friday, we recapped our days of the week. In our directed activity we thought about the activities we do on certain days. It must be swimming day on a Friday as lots of children drew that as their Friday activity.

During this weeks R.E. lesson the children learnt all about Noah and his very special ark. They listened very carefully to the story before singing a song about the animals boarding the ark and writing a sentence about the story they had heard. We were really impressed by the super sentences that the children had written.

Homework this week is a key word writing task and a Maths sharing challenge. It it great to see so many children proudly producing their homework for me to see when they have completed it. We’ve had lots of big smiles and stickers this week.

We hope you have a lovely weekend,

The Reception Class Team
